I have prepared this (below) for the work referenced in my first post. As many use kBq U-235 eq as unit for Ionising radiation, human health, following JRC, I hope to find some explanations to the methodology used by posting it here.
"To quantify the impact of ionizing radiation on human health, Dreicer & Frischknecht use several units: man.Sv/TWh, man.Sv/kBq, and DALY/kBq.
These last two units are used within the framework of the United Nations Environment Programme, the Life Cycle Initiative, and its GLAM—Global Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA).
GLAM V1.0.2024 - uses two units for radiation exposure and human health: DALY/kBq and man Sv/Bq, in accordance with the work of Diecer and Frischknecht. UNECE 2021 LCA 1.2, in box 5, uses man.Sv too, although the Cultural theory choosen seems to be individualist scenario instead egalitarian scenario in PEF (even it is not explicit, for what I get).
However, although it quotes GLAM as référence, the EU method for calculating environmental footprint (PEF 3.0) uses becquerels as unit—a unit of radiation exposure with no mathematical relationship to human health.
For this reason, in accordance with the AFNOR specification, we will use only the term “ionizing radiation” without including the term “human health.”
I obviously think it is an error to express human health through Bq unit. What did I miss, please.
